Students will focus on the core areas of literacy, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Each quarter, our class literature and writing will be centered around a different theme. Vocabulary usage and acquisition will be developed through specific content area words in our class readings as well as the use of Sadlier Vocabulary. Following the NYS Next Generation ELA standards, writing and grammar skills will be developed throughout the year while we create different genres of texts. This includes creating narratives, explanatory and research based texts.
The grade 7 religion curriculum follows the guidelines set by the Archdiocese of New York. Students will conduct an in-depth study of the New Testament, Sacraments and personal growth. Students will enrich their spiritual wellbeing by partaking in the reading of gospels, prayer, music and reflection.
The 6th grade science curriculum follows the guidelines and pacing of Discovery Education and the NYS Science Standards.
