Students will be introduced to art history and famous artists and create various projects encouraging their self-esteem and bolstering confidence as they learn to value the arts.  Cross-curriculum projects are developed periodically.

New York State Standards for Art Education:

  • Students will actively engage in the processes that constitute creation.
  • Students will be knowledgeable about and make use of the materials available.
  • Students will respond critically to various works of art (age relevant).
  • Students will understand the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic communication and how art, in turn, shapes the diverse cultures of past and present.
