In celebration of Women's History Month, we’re bringing you some wise words and advice from women leaders on campus. Here’s what Susana Briscoe-Alba, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, has to say:
What does being a strong, capable, successful woman mean to you?
It means being willing to be courageous even when you feel afraid. It means being unapologetic about pursuing your dreams. It means making the most of every opportunity and learning from each failure.
What does women supporting women mean to you?
Supporting women means showing encouragement through words or deeds. It means not feeling threatened by another sister that’s killing the game. It means genuinely listening to each other and creating a space for others to shine.
Do you have any quotes/mantras that you live by?
I have a few but perhaps my favorite is “Other people’s opinion of you, is none of your business.”
What advice would you give to a young girl/woman starting out on a new journey in life?
Embrace the awkward, remember that you’re learning and growing. Even the experts were amateurs once. Don’t try to be a version of you that isn’t your genuine self. In a world of salsa be the guac, my dear!
