Impacting the Next Generation

The road to your own classroom starts here, in the Mount’s Division of Education. If you have a passion for being a mentor and sharing your knowledge with others, this is the place for you.

We take our responsibility of training future teachers seriously. We get our students into the classroom right away - freshman year in fact - and continue fieldwork hours throughout their four years. Our Curriculum Library on campus is well-stocked with lesson plans and children’s books exclusively for our Education students, and you can’t help but be inspired for your future with a K-8 school right on campus (which is almost fully staffed by MSMC alumni!). And our students are so eager to start their lives of service that they can’t wait until graduation: Our faculty and students even volunteer to run a weekly literacy program at the local community center.

It’s this kind of training and resources that mark Mount Education alumni; in fact, school districts often call us looking for candidates, and we’ve had two alumni honored as New York State Teachers of the Year in the past decade.

Our students are our future. So let’s go shape the future, together.
