Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y. will host the 13th annual St. Thomas Aquinas Philosophy Workshop, “Aquinas on Divine Simplicity,” from May 29 to June 2, 2024.

Registration is now open to all undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and all non-student lovers of wisdom. To register, visit www.msmc.edu/philosophyworkshop and follow the prompts under the Registration header on the page.

The event is co-sponsored by the Mount’s Catholic and Dominican Institute (CDI) and the Thomistic Institute at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.

The first day of the conference will be devoted to graduate students in philosophy or adjacent disciplines. The following days will combine presentations by philosophers with periods for panel discussions and debate.

Speakers include Jeff Brower of Perdue University; Gregory Doolan of The Catholic University of America; W. Matthews Grant of the University of St. Thomas, MN.; Michael Gorman of the Catholic University of America; Joshua Hochschild of Mount Saint Mary’s University; and Sr. Anna Wray, OP of The Catholic University of America.

The Mount’s CDI promotes the Mount’s heritage of St. Dominic, advances the Dominican charism of study and service, provides a forum for discussion of contemporary ethical issues, and enhances Catholic and Jewish dialogue. The Institute welcomes persons of varied faiths and acknowledges different religious traditions as essential to the college’s intellectual and spiritual life.

In addition to the annual philosophy workshop, CDI arranges lectures during the academic year.

CDI is directed by Charles Zola, Assistant to the President for Mission Integration, Director of the Catholic and Dominican Institute, and Associate Professor of Philosophy.
