Mount Saint Mary College faculty and staff recently attended a training session for administering naloxone, an anti-opioid overdose medicine.
The event was an initiative of TEAM Newburgh. It was hosted by Mount alumna Megan Robbins ’17, TEAM Newburgh Community Engagement Specialist, and Sgt. Julio Fernandez of the U.S. Army.
Naloxone – often known by the brand name Narcan – comes in the form of a nasal spray. The spray temporarily reverses the effects of opioids, buying caregivers more time to seek medical attention in the event of an overdose.
