Mount Saint Mary College recently named Dina Leduc the college's 2021 Employee of the Year.
Leduc, RN, '98 serves as the assistant director of Health Services at the Mount. She began working at the college in 2013 and is currently in the college's graduate program, working towards a Family Nurse Practitioner degree. She was nominated for the award by her co-workers.
"To have been the recipient of this year's award brings a myriad of feelings," said Leduc. "I am honored and humbled. I also feel like this award really belongs to all of the staff that supported Health Services and our students during what was a very trying year. I am so appreciative to my peers for this award, but I hope they know that I am also privileged to work with an amazing group of people on this campus."
Working in a medical setting during a pandemic has been a challenge, Leduc noted. But it was a challenge she and her co-workers did not have to take on alone.
"What got our office through the past difficult year was all of the support and efforts of everyone on campus," Leduc said. "From Parkhurst [the college's food provider], to Athletics, Res-Life, and Security being the biggest supporters. But also, it was so heartwarming to receive food and snacks from other campus departments as well. Faculty and staff were constantly offering their time to help where they could. A pandemic was never something I thought I would see in my career as a nurse...my appreciation goes out to all the nurses on the frontlines!"
The annual Employee of the Year selection was made possible by the Employee Satisfaction Committee, which was created to provide a voice for Mount staff to channel feedback and contribute towards creating a more engaging workplace environment. The Employee of the Year award was created by the committee in collaboration with the President and Human Resources.
