A guidebook to workplace diversity and inclusion, written by Michael L. Fox, assistant professor of Business Law, Pre-Law advisor, and MBA coordinator at Mount Saint Mary College, has been accepted into the Library of Congress permanent collection and catalog.
Both the first and second edition of Fox's A Guide to Diversity and Inclusion in the 21st Century Workplace were added to the Library of Congress's General Collections. Each was assigned a Library of Congress control number.
Now in its second edition, the book provides readers with a detailed reference guide regarding the major issues of diversity and inclusion in the 21st century. The updated edition contains more than 50 pages of new or updated material, including recent Supreme Court precedents.
The guide is a good resource for attorneys, judges, and businesspeople alike, noted Fox. It details the main federal and New York State laws concerning provisions of anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-retaliation. It also delves into protections for sexual orientation, the issue of equal pay, the current status of the federal Equal Rights Amendment, and more.
Fox's other book, Primer for an Evolving eWorld, was accepted into the Library of Congress about a year ago. That book, now in its second edition, provides a detailed, easy to understand reference guide on the legal implications of the vast array of documents, emails, text messages, websites, photographs, and social media posts that are used in our daily lives, as well as their use by attorneys and judges in legal matters.
Fox teaches courses in the Mount's undergraduate Business program and Masters of Business Administration program. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude, from Bucknell University, with a major in Economics and minor in Biology. Fox also earned a Doctor of Law degree from Columbia University School of Law, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an Articles Editor on the Columbia Business Law Review.
