Anthony Scardillo, assistant professor of Marketing at Mount Saint Mary College, presented "Preparing Today's College Students for the Real World" on the Academic Minute on Friday, November 12.

The Academic Minute airs on the WAMC public radio network and features researchers from colleges and universities around the world. On every episode, a different professor discusses their groundbreaking research and how it helps us better understand the world around us.

Scardillo discussed on the preparedness of college graduates in the business world on the November 12 edition of the program. According to Scardillo, some business executives say that today's graduates lack the necessary skills to enter the workforce. In his presentation, Scardillo explores his top three causes of this phenomenon. His episode can be found at academicminute.org.

Scardillo is an award-winning advertising, marketing and business professional with more than 30 years of experience in international, national, regional, state, and local advertising, marketing, and sales. His research focuses on improving the workplace environment by creating fun and engaging cultures for employees. Scardillo is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Academy of Management. He earned a Doctor of Management degree from The Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, as well as an MBA from The Huether School of Business at The College of Saint Rose.

Scardillo is also the faculty advisor for the Medici Scholars Program at the Mount. Through the generosity of Walden Savings Bank, the collaborative Medici program prepares students for leadership and principled corporate citizenship. The program introduces undergraduate Business and Accounting students to the world of arts and nonprofits to foster a better understanding of the important role the business community plays in supporting them.
