Mount Saint Mary College’s Center for Aging and Disability Policy (CADP) and Pre-Law Society will present a panel discussion on elder abuse and negligence on Thursday, April 13, at 5:30 p.m. on campus.

The free event, which is open to the public, will take place at the School of Business (Aquinas 100). The Mount is located at 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, N.Y.

Join us for an evening of conversation exploring the abuse and negligence that many older adults face from loved ones or those who take care of them.

After short discussions by Michael L. Fox, assistant professor of Business and Pre-Law Advisor; and Octavius D. Fryar, a Healthcare Management student from Newburgh, N.Y. and vice president of the college’s Pre-Law Society; the audience will hear from keynote speaker Lawrence T. Force, professor of Psychology and director of CADP.

Force, a gerontologist, has worked in the field of aging and disabilities for more than three decades as an administrator, clinician, and educator. He will be introduced by Emily Brueckner, a Criminology major from Newburgh, N.Y

Afterwards, the panel discussion will begin. Panelists will include:

  • AnneMarie Maglione, director of the Orange County Office for the Aging
  • Tim Murphy, director of Orange County Adult Protective Services
  • Dr. Cathy Rehfus-Wilsek, associate professor of Healthcare Management and Business Graduate Program Coordinator at the Mount

The panel will be moderated by Mount students Kaitlyn Lauro, a Business Administration and Management major from Farmingville, N.Y., and Rachel Berkoben, a Human Services major from Westwood, N.J.
