  • Excellence in Education: The Mount has long been renowned for our teacher education program. In fact, we often get calls from local school districts looking for our graduates, as they know how well they’ve been trained as educators. You’ll be proud to be part of this stellar program.
  • Passion for gifted students: The professors in this program are passionate about encouraging, challenging, and nurturing the potential of gifted students and meeting their unique needs. You’ll be motivated by their enthusiasm for the subject they teach!

12 credits in Gifted Education

Learn about Advanced Certificate in Gifted Education academic requirements and courses here.

One of the best aspects of this program is that it is only 12 credits, which means you can complete the degree in one academic year. Additionally, you’ll participate in 50 hours of fieldwork with the gifted education population to practice your skills. At the conclusion of the program, you will take the Content Specialty Test in Gifted Education in order to be certified by New York State.

Be prepared for your future

With this advanced certificate, you will be qualified to teach in gifted education classes in the grade area of your initial certification (childhood or adolescence).
