Cybersecurity and Information Technology Certificates

As digital threats and attacks are continuously increasing and the world becomes more reliant on sufficient technology overall, there is a great demand for skilled cybersecurity and information technology (IT) workers in both private and government organizations. All five certificates are intended for students who are not pursuing a 4-year bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or IT. 

Why get your Cybersecurity or IT certificate? 

Here’s what makes this certificate program unique:

  • Sagar Raina teaching a class.Five certificate tracks: At the Mount, we offer three Cybersecurity Certificate tracks: Cybersecurity, Ethical Hacking, or Digital Forensics; and two IT Certificate tracks: Networking and Web Programming.
  • Gain necessary skills for the workforce: All five certificate tracks will either get you started in the Cybersecurity or IT field or enhance your knowledge of the fast-growing industry.

What to expect as a Cybersecurity or IT certificate student

Students who are not pursuing a 4-year bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology (IT) are eligible to pursue a Cybersecurity or IT Certificate at the Mount. Your course structure will depend on which track you select:

Cybersecurity Certificates

Learn about the Cybersecurity Certificate academic requirements and courses here.

The Cybersecurity Certificate will provide you with both the theoretical background and hands-on experience to understand the principles of cybersecurity, cybersecurity risk and management, cryptography, and network security. You’ll learn necessary programming skills using a modern programming language. With this certificate, you can apply for entry level cybersecurity positions. You will also be prepared to sit for the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) A+, Network+, and/or Security+ exam.

Learn about the Ethical Hacking Certificate academic requirements and courses here.

The Ethical Hacking Certificate will provide you with the theoretical background and hands-on experience required for ethical hacking, including understanding of modern operating systems and network vulnerabilities, exploits, and defenses. You’ll be introduced to penetration testing processes and tools to identify weaknesses in their information infrastructures and take preemptive measures against malicious attacks. You’ll learn necessary programming skills using modern programming languages. With this certificate, you’ll be prepared to work as a security analyst, penetration tester, or ethical hacker for private or government organizations. You will also be prepared to sit for the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) A+, Network+, and/or Security+ exam.

The Digital Forensics Certificate will take you through foundational cybersecurity concepts, laws, and policies. You’ll learn the workings of cybercrimes, threat, and defense mechanisms of modern operating systems, ethical hacking processes, and underlying concepts of computer forensic investigations. You’ll learn necessary programming skills using modern programming languages. With this certificate, you’ll be able to work as a digital forensics expert, security analyst, penetration tester, or ethical hacker for private or government organizations. You will also be prepared to sit for the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) A+, Network+, and/or Security+ exam.

IT Certificates

Learn about the Networking Certificate academic requirements and courses here.

The Networking Certificate will provide you with both the theoretical background of computer networks and hands-on experience to design, install, configure, maintain, and administer commercial networks and computer servers. With this certificate, you can apply for positions in network management, installation, and administration. You will also be prepared to sit for the Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) Networking+ exam.

The Web Programming Certificate will provide you with the necessary skills to design, build, and maintain dynamic web applications. Students will learn both front-end and back-end web technologies using modern client-side and server-side programming languages and databases. With this certificate, you can apply for full-stack developer/web developer, web designer, database designer, and developer positions.
