Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology with a concentration in Educational Technologies
Help the next generation of learners by supporting the technology that allows them to do so. Adding a concentration in Educational Technologies prepares professionals to create and support digital learning modes. Educational technology specialists often consult or even help design digital learning experiences and curriculum at the school or district level as well as teach technology classes. Additionally, students in this concentration learn how to execute educational practices in traditional environments, remote learning, and everything in between.

- Make learning fun: Digital learning doesn’t just have to be PowerPoint. Our professors give you the freedom to be creative! Many of our Educational Technologies students have utilized innovative teaching methods, even using video games and VR to teach!
- Understand IT all: By having Educational Technologies as a concentration within the Information Technology major, you won’t just learn how to use technology in the classroom; you’ll also understand technology holistically, allowing you to repair, support, and administer educational tools.

What to expect from your Educational Technologies studies

As an Educational Technologies student, your classes will help you to think about how learning can be delivered digitally. You’ll take classes like Presentation Media, eLearning, and Instructional Design, which will go over skills like making the most effective presentations and designing multimedia content that excites and educates.
The key to the Mount’s Educational Technologies program is the practice-based approach. It’s one thing to read about how to design effective digital lessons, and another to actually design them and teach them to your fellow classmates. We prefer the latter method!
As with our other Information Technology majors, you’ll also have the opportunity to take advantage of internships and extracurricular opportunities like teaching elementary school girls how to code or participating in the Byte Knights club.
Be prepared for your future
With your concentration in Educational Technologies, you’ll be prepared for a career as a technology teacher or as a technology specialist for a school or district. You can also go into educational technology training or consulting as well as work in distance learning programs for homeschooling or higher education.
