Now, you want to be a part of creating those opportunities for others by making a career out of your passion for sports. Like any other industry, sports is a business and need to be managed and run like one. The study of Sports Management allows you to combine your passion for sports and athletics with the operational and management experience needed to help them thrive.

That’s why having a Sports Management major or Sports Management concentration as part of a Business Management & Administration or Accounting degree is invaluable for your future in the industry.
- Experienced faculty: Your professors aren’t just avid sports fans (though of course they are!). They also have experience in the field of Sports Management and can teach you what you need to know to be successful in the industry.

What to expect as a Sports Management student

After learning the foundations of Business in freshman and sophomore year, you’ll be ready to begin your Sports Management courses in junior year. These courses will add to what you’ve already learned and teach you how to apply these skills to the sports industry.
Your learning won't just take place in the classroom, however: You'll also go on behind-the-scenes tours of the operations of Yankee Stadium, the Hudson Valley Renegades, and Citi Field and attend networking events with those in the sports management industry.
Finally, you’ll round out your Sports Management studies with a required internship. Don’t worry: the Mount’s Career Center is ready to help you find the best fit!
Be prepared for your future
Your Sports Management internship will be one of the highlights of your academic experience. Past Sports Management students have interned at organizations such as the Hudson Valley Renegades, NY Islanders, Army West Point, All Sport Health & Fitness, NY Lizards, and Steiner Sports to further grow their skills.
All of this will lead you to your dream job, preparing you for a variety of management positions within sports and athletics. Graduates of the 5-year BS/MBA program are additionally qualified for leadership positions in these organizations.
